Hi! I’m Victoria Jane Wilson, an artist, mother of two and wife to an amazing husband, living in Sydney, Australia.

I make art as a transference of energy. When I paint it captures my state - how I feel in that moment - the same vibrations that I feel when I am creating the work. I want someone who is looking at my art to feel the emotion translated through the strokes of my brush, to bring life to the room that becomes its home. Emotions are fleeting but in my art they become a time capsule.

Some of my inspiration is from the big life events... The frenetic whirlwind of living in New York City. The rollercoaster of family tragedy. The grief of losing a family home in a disaster. The joy of becoming a mother and welcoming a new soul into the world. The freedom of channeling my children's innocent lack of inhibition.

I focus on medium and large scale canvas because I can be quite expressive and need the space! I work with acrylic, ink, oil pastels and collage, often working on several pieces spread out across the floor at the same time. Immersing myself in the room means I embody Jackson Pollock's quote "on the floor I am more at ease. I feel nearer, more part of the painting, since this way I can walk around it, work from the four sides and literally be in the painting".
