Designing A Luxurious Bedroom Part 2

Creating a Bedroom With Style & Luxury

The bedroom is such a meaningful part of our lives, and creating a luxurious bedroom needs more ideas, inspiration and information to create that all important interior design. At Palmer & Penn we decided to follow on from our previous guide about Designing a Luxurious Bedroom with Part 2, capturing our ideas for the best pieces to consider in planning your design.

In our first guide we covered how to choose the perfect bed, stylish linen and bedding to keep you comfortable and the most luxurious bedside tables and chairs to really give your bedroom a feeling of opulence. In this guide we will continue designing a luxurious bedroom beginning with recommended chests and drawers to store your possessions, stylish mirrors to reflect upon your luxury bedroom, our favourite home fragrances, and tips for styling the perfect ensuite.

Chests and Drawers

Chests and Drawers are an essential component of your luxury bedroom. After all, you will need somewhere practical to store your possessions, however this does not mean that you need to sacrifice style and elegance for practicality. There are a number of things that you will need to think about before choosing the pieces of furniture for your luxury bedroom; how much storage you will need, and the size of the space you are looking to position the piece.

If you require something that has plenty of storage and will be a feature piece in your bedroom, we love the Marylebone Chest with seven drawers and ash burl frame, and the bonus of a locked jewelry tray to store your finest pieces. For something smaller, though still stands out, the Yeardley Chest with a Mahogany frame and customisable finish including drawer fronts will be both practical and look the part. For a bolder look that will definitely command attention, the Heiress Painted Bombe Chest with a black Chinoiserie finish will be the perfect addition.

Mirrors And Lighting

A mirror can be a focal point of any luxury bedroom catering to both practical and decorative needs. Whether you are looking for a smaller sized vanity mirror, full size mirror or a mirror that projects the illusion of a larger space, there are numerous options available to suit your style.

The shape and frame colour is the first thing to decide when choosing a mirror. Would a conservative round or oval mirror with soft edges and corners such as a Steel Bauhaus Mirror suit your luxury bedroom style or would the sharper and edgier shape of a square or rectangular angled mirror such as a City Modern Mirror be more suitable? Perhaps something a little more traditional such as a Fanning Mirror? When it comes to colour it is important to think about what colour compliments the style of your bedroom and whether your preference is something that blends into the existing colours of your room or a colour that stands out boldly on its own.

When thinking about which mirror would work in your bedroom, it is a good idea to have a good look around your luxury bedroom with a designer's eye. Look at each area in the room and consider the reflections from natural & room light it may catch and the practicality of the position.

Candles And Scents

The perfect fragrance can bring a touch of softness and opulence to your bedroom and provide a feeling of relaxation and romance. A lit candle can bring a subtle glow to a dark room and create a soft illumination. The right room fragrance can sharpen the senses and overall feelings of the room. Some of our favourite candles for a touch of luxury are;

Giambattista Valli Rose with scents mimicking a fresh cut bouquet of roses will evoke soft feelings of romance

Josephine Candle by famed candle maker Trudon with hints of roses, jasmine, camellias and irises

Crystal Forest Scented Candle from Lalique’s Voyage de Parfumeur collection

Ensuite

No luxury bedroom would be complete without an ensuite, styled with practical and decorative pieces to complete the look. Our favourite pieces for the ensuite include;

Leigh Jar featuring fine crystal tabletop pieces that have been cut by hand to reveal gleaming facets. Brass and silver trim

Shagreen Vanity Mirror perfect for any small space or an addition to the bathroom vanity

Mediterraneo Shower Gel an ideal cleansing product, with a high concentration of natural extracts, perfect for relaxing and regenerating the skin

Frette Diamond Robe with a soft jacquard terry towel fabric, the Diamonds Bathrobe is complemented by wide patterned borders at the cuff and a hooded neck in a contrasting texture

Conclusion
